Harry stands in Dumbledore′s office and looks around. His eyes fall on the Sorting Hat, which he asks immediately whether it decided correctly sending him to Gryffindor. The hat explains that he would have had a great future in Slytherin. Afterwards Harry sees Fawkes, which bursts into flames the same moment. Prof. Dumbledore arrives and explains, that a phoenix catches fire at some time and will be reborn from its own ashes. He also explains, that a phoenix has great magic powers.
He calms Harry by saying, that he doesn′t think that Harry has anything to do with the Petrified people. Although Harry cannot bring himself to tell Dumbledore about the strange voice he is hearing so often.
At the start of Christmas holidays Hermione tells, that the potion is ready and that they should take it now. When she asks Harry and Ron to procure the most important thing, which must be added, they feel queasy. They are supposed to collect hairs from Crabbe and Goyle. When Crabbe and Goyle come from the Great Hall after dinner, Harry and Ron perch two chocolate cakes for them. Because these are filled with a sleeping drought, the two Slytherins fall asleep immediately. Harry and Ron hide them, take some hairs and run to Hermione, who has already gotten hairs from Millicent Bullstrode′s cape. She fills the potion into cups and waits for them. Once they have swallowed the drink, Hermione refuses to come outside her cubicle, so that Harry and Ron set off alone.
Unfortunately the visist at the Slytherins′ common room does not satisfy their expecations, so they return to the toilet without further information to find out what happened to Hermione, who had not collected a hair of Millicent Bullstrode, but instead of that one of her cat′s hairs. Unfortunately the Polyjuice Potion is only for human use. Hermione has to go to the hospital wing.
