The visitor is Dobby, a house elf. He wants to hold Harry back from school, in order to prevent a terrible happening. But Dobby won′t say what would happen at school. The house elf punishes himself, making lots of noise, all the time, because he tells secrets about his master without being given the authority. Harry finds out, that his friends have send him letters, but Dobby took all of them before they could reach Harry. When Harry says, that he still wants to go back to Hogwarts and that he wants the letters back, Dobby runs downstairs into the kitchen. He uses magic to make Aunt Petunia′s dessert fly through the air, until he smashes it on the ground with a loud noise.
An owl delivers an admonishment for Harry, which is from the Ministry of Magic. He is not allowed to use magic until he is of age, but magic has been used in the house.
Uncle Vernon is very angry about Harry and locks him away in his bedroom. The windows have been sealed with iron bars, so that Harry is not able to leave his room without the use of any magic. Vernon forbids Harry to go back to Hogwarts. But in one night Ron turns up right in front of his window.
