At the end of the holidays the Weasleys and Harry go to King′s Cross with the bewitched muggle car, which is owned by Mr. Weasley. Harry and Ron are the last ones who should go through the barrier to Platform 9 3/4. But to their surprise they can′t manage to get to the platform. After a few seconds thinking the boys decide to use the bewitched car and fly to Hogwarts. The Invisibility Booster fails to work and some Muggles see the flying car. Harry and Ron follow the Hogwarts Express, until they reach the school. At their arrival at school Ron is not able to control the car anymore and they fly right into the Whomping Willow. The tree starts to punch the car. Harry and Ron are able to get out of the tree, but Ron′s wand brakes while they escape from the tree. After that accident the Ford Anglia sets himself free and drives straight into the Forbidden Forest. Ron and Harry take their way to the Great Hall and hope that no one would ever know how they arrived at school. But unfortunately Prof. Snape knows what they have done. He tells them that their trip with the flying car has already been printed in the Daily Prophet. He is disappointed, that they are not being expelled from school by Prof. Dumbledore, instead Prof. Dumbledore sends them to Prof. McGonagall for punishment.
Back in the Gryffindor common room the other students want to hear everything that happened on their way to school. Only their best friend Hermione and Percy are not to happy about their adventure.
