When the Quidditch players are on the way to their first training session, they meet the Slytherins who have the Prof. Snape′s permissionto take the field to train their new seeker - Draco Malfoy. His father bought new brooms for the whole team. By this he got his son into the team.
Draco insults Hermione as dirty mudblood, so that Ron furiously tries to jinx him. Unfortunately the magic wand backfires and Ron is hitten by his own spell and ends up belching slugs. Hagrid tells Harry and Hermione, what the term "Mudblood" means.
In the evening the first detention is set for Ron and Harry. Ron must clean trophies under the supervision of Mr. Filch and Harry has an appointment with Prof. Lockhart and shall help him to answer his fan mail. As the candles are almost burnt down, Harry hears a strange voice. As a result Prof. Lockhart breaks off the work and lets Harry go.
