Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Chapter 12 - The Patronus
After the holidays Harry gets his first private lesson from Professor Lupin to learn how to cope with the Dementors. The Patronus is an advanced spell and to succeed Harry requires one happy memory, something that he unfortunately does not possess in large numbers. After countless unsuccessful attempts Harry finds a good memory and produces his first Patronus, but several lessons later he still only manages an indistinct form that is not very effective.
The date of the next game of Quidditch comes closer and Harry hasn′t got his broom back yet, so he gets a lend-broom from school. After one of his lessons with Lupin, Harry almost collides with Professor McGonagall. She has been searching for him because she wants to return the Firebolt in order for Gryffindor to win the house cup.
In the common room Harry encounters Ron and Hermione, who is bent over some books again. The two are trying to overcome the awkward tension that is present between them since the confiscation of the Firebolt, but unfortunately Ron discovers Scabbers’ disappearance in that moment. As all evidence seems to point to Crookshanks, another dispute is inevitable between Ron and Hermione.
