For two weeks Harry enjoys his newfound freedom discovering all the wonders of Diagon Alley, where he also procures his supply of Potions ingredients as well as new robes and books he needs for his third school year.
On the last day of the summer holidays Harry meets his friends Ron and Hermione in the Ice-Cream Parlour. Ron tells them about his holiday in Egypt and Hermione talks about her overloaded timetable. Harry is not wondering about her timetable because he knows her only as a very ambitious pupil. They do some shopping together, but their conversation is interrupted when Hermione’s new cat Crookshanks and Ron’s rat Scabbers start fighting.
In the evening Harry overhears Arthur and Molly Weasley talking about Sirius, learning that he himself will probably be his next target. The Ministry already sent Dementors, the guards of Azkaban, to protect Hogwarts and find Black.
