Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Chapter 13 - Detention with Dolores
The news of Harry’s conflict with Professor Umbridge travel around very fast. The permanent whispering gets on Harry’s nerves and he stops his dinner early. The next day Harry meets Luna, who says that she is on his side like Ernie MacMillan. At dinner, Harry is told off by Angelina, the new Quidditch Captain, because the detention will make him miss the Keeper tryouts. Umbridge gives Harry a quill and a piece of parchment, and tells him that he should only write: “I must not tell lies”. Harry notices very fast, that he is writing with his own blood and that the writing also appears on his hand. After midnight he is finally allowed to go. He doesn’t say anything to anyone, although Umbridge makes him write with this quill every day, but Ron detects the writing on Harry’s hand. On Friday, Harry’s last detention with Umbridge takes place. At the end she touches his hand and Harry’s scar is starting to hurt. Back in the common room, Harry finds out that Ron is the new Keeper.
