Harry wakes up very early on Saturday and decides to write a letter to Sirius, telling him about Professor Umbridge and his scar. He asks about Hagrid too. When he has finished the letter, he brings his letter to Hedwig, where he meets Cho, who is sending a small birthday package to her mother. Harry is very nervous, but he manages to talk normally with her, but they are stopped by Filch, who wants to confest Harrys letter.The Daily Prohphet informs all, that Sirius Black has been seen in London and that Sturgis Podmore, a member of the Order, has been send to Azkaban. During breakfast, Ron and Harry decide to play Quidditch, in spite of the amount of homework. Ron plays very well while he is alone with Harry, but as their team mates join them later and the Slytherins are also watching them, he gets worse. Angelina stops the training early, because Katie’s nose is bleeding dreadfully. In a very bad mood, Harry and Ron go to the common room and do their homework. Hermione knits clothes for houseelves which she distributes everywhere in the room to free them. Later in the evening Ron gets a letter from Percy, telling him to end his friendship with Harry and join the ministry’s side. He tears the letter. Harry doesn’t believe his eyes, as he discovers Sirius’ head in the fire once they are alone in the common room. He has come to answer Harry’s letter. Sirius tells them that Umbridge is a dreadful woman, but can’t be a Death Eater. He doesn’t know anything about Hagrid, but he thinks, that they shouldn’t worry about him.
