Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Chapter 29 - Careers Advice
The Easter holidays have just begun when Hermione creates three timetables for their exam repetition. Harry does not tell his friends anything about Snape’s memory. He reads later, that all fifth-years need to get a career-counselling to think about their job-related future. Fred and George break a plan to Harry how he could use the floo network in Umbridge′s office to contact Sirius while they create a diversion. Too late, Harry remembers the career-counselling. Much to his regret, Prof. Umbridge is present at this talk, who keeps interrupting the conversation between Harry and Prof. McGonagall. Harry expresses the wish to become an Auror, which Prof. Umbridge rejects because of his alleged bad grades. At the end, Prof. McGonagall promises to do everything possible to support Harry in his learning efforts to help him with his wish.
After the DaDA lesson a noise is heard which is due to Fred and George′s diversion. Harry runs under his Invisibility Cloak to Prof. Umbridge′s office and contacts Sirius and Lupin through the floo network. The conversation ends abruptly as steps can be heard. The caretaker Mr. Filch enters the office and searches for papers in some drawers which would allow him the whipping of pupils as a punishment. Harry follows Filch into the Entrance Hall where he discovers Prof. Umbridge, dozens of pupils, the Inquisitorial Squad and the Weasley-Twins who have transformed a corridor into a marsh. Theatrically, the twins accio their brooms and fly out of the school, not without challenging the pupils and Peeves to revolt against Prof. Umbridge.
