Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Chapter 8 - The Hearing
Harry enters the courtroom, which he has already seen in Dumbledore’s Pensieve. While the bill of indictment is being read, Dumbeldore enters the courtroom. He says that it was a coincidence, that he arrived a bit to early at the Ministry. Mr Fudge is not very happy about his presence, because he wanted to keep him away from the Hearing. The minister only says that Harry used magic in reach of Muggels. Harry’s explanation and excuses are ignored by him. The British Youth Representative to the Wizengamot is amazed by Harry’s abbilities to create a Patronus. She believes Harry, but Fudge says it’s all a fiction of Harry. Mrs. Figg is brought in as a witness by Dumbledore. She tells everything about the feeling she had when the Dementors were around. The explanations are so precise, that the Wizengamot believes her finally. Dumbledore mentions, that obviously the Ministry has lost control about the Dementors. Mr. Fudge starts to excuse Harry of other irrelevant things. In the end Harry is being acquitted. After this Dumbledore leaves the courtroom without speaking to Harry or even looking at him.
